Fast & Pray for Israel on May 14th
The Israeli Declaration of Independence made on May 14 1948, the day before the British Mandate was due to expire, was the official announcement that the new Jewish state named the State of Israel had been formally established in parts of what was known as the British Mandate of Palestine and on land where, in antiquity, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah had once been.
The event is celebrated annually in Israel with a national holiday called Yom Ha'atzmaut (Hebrew: lit. Independence Day), the timing of which is based on the Hebrew calendar date of the declaration (5, Iyar, 5708).
Palestinians commemorate the event as Nakba Day (Arabic: Yawm al-nakba, lit. Catastrophe Day) on 15 May every year.
But for Bible believing Christians & Jews, May 14, 1948 is not a "Catastrophe Day" as the Palestinians declare, but a long awaited day of fulfilled prophecy!
"Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once?" - Isaiah 66:8
"Thus says the Lord GOD, "When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and will manifest My holiness in them in the sight of the nations, then they will live in their land which I gave to My servant Jacob." Ezekiel 28:25
With the establishment and growing strength of Israel and the regathering of the tribes, God has placed a powerful witness in the earth. A sign and fearful warning to the heathen nations, and an edifying and hopeful sign to those who love the Messiah and His city Jerusalem. The Lord is preparing His people and the nations for His return. Faith is becoming sight as major, millennia old, prophecies unfold in our time.
Blessed are those who believe without seeing, but what about those who see and still don't believe? We see Israel in the world again every day in the news, and how angry the world is with Israel for living in it's own land smaller than New Jersey. Where does that anger come from?
The Bible declares that we are to be a witness for the Lord in Jerusalem. It is the only city God claims as His. It is called the "City of God" and the "Holy City."
God has put His Name in Jerusalem: "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever…" (2 Kings 21:7b)
He promises a curse upon the nations that come against Jerusalem: "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem."(Zechariah 12:9)
God promises a blessing on those who bless Israel. Please join me today and bless Israel with your fasting & prayer.
All I ask is that you pray and fast* for Israel and specifically Jerusalem on May 14th. Ask the Lord to protect Israel, strengthen them and most importantly reveal Jesus to them! Once again, on May 14th, lets pray and fast for Israel together.
"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch." (Isaiah 62:1)
* How should I fast? - As the Lord leads you. We suggest fasting from all food for 24 hours as you focus on praying to the Lord on Israel's behalf. Try fasting from sunset May 13th to sunset May 14th. Remember to drink clean water during your fast. If you cannot fast from all food, cut out anything in your life that you depend on everyday. The Lord knows your heart. Read scriptures about fasting.
